FAQ

FAQ

  • What is FilmWorkTexas?
We are a Texas-based community site dedicated to connecting all those who work in the film industry in an ad free, noise free space. We hope to keep it as simple and straightforward as possible. For a general overview, check out our About page.
  • How do I become a Member?
It's easy! Just click on the Login bar on the home page, and follow the prompts. If by some chance there's a gremlin in the works, just email us at filmworktexas (at) gmail and we'll help you out.
  • Where's the fine print?
See how smart you are? While we do strive to keep things as simple and straightforward as possible, we do have an extensive page of Terms, Conditions, Discalaimers and our Privacy Policy that you should definitely read. Be sure you pack a lunch, it may take a minute.
  • Why is this Texas only?
There are other sites dedicated to film related content and even dedicated casting sites that operate nation-wide. As filmmakers ourselves, having used those sites, we felt there was a need for ways to connect locally in the thriving Thriving Texas film industry. We definitely recommend using those other sites, but we liked the efficiency of offering Texas related cast/crew notices, information and resources in one handy spot.
  • Do you have a social media presence?
You can find profiles for us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram...but since this site is, on the low, a rebellion against social media algorithms and ads, we don't really do much there. But, we do get notifications if you need to reach out to us on those platforms. Or, you could just Contact Us at the bottom of the home page.
  • Why do you charge for the Cast and Crew Notices pages?
Three main reasons: 1. Having a pay wall protects against spam and postings from those who are not professionals. 2. If a product or service is free, YOU are the product. Sites that are "free" often monetize by selling your information or bombarding you with ads. We like to keep this space ad free and protect your personal information when you post. 3. We have to cover the cost for the hosting of the site, administrative expenses and content production. We feel like a small charge for this service is reasonable and keeps the site focused on Film Work in Texas. Check out our pricing.
  • What are the levels of Membership?
Once you become a member, you have full access to the site (except for cast/crew notices). However, as you engage and establish yourself you receive membership badges that let people know how long you've been around and whether you are a full member who has completed a REAL profile, submitted a blog post or resource, whether you moderate a forum or in some other way have established yourself on the site as an Expert. FilmWorkTexas is a professional website, anonymity is discouraged. For detailed information, visit the Membership Overview page.
  • How do I unsubscribe?
Well, we don’t know why you would, but if you must, you can go to your member area and take care of it all from there. We keep emails to a bare minimum, and our services and content are designed to be relevant so hopefully you’ll never have to unsubscribe. If there’s a way we can improve the site or there is a specific aspect you would like to bring to our attention, give us the opportunity to refine things before you jump ship. But, we understand that sometimes you just have to move on. We’ll miss you and wish you the best.
  • Can I moderate a forum?
We love that you've asked! If you have a group or niche that you would like to create a forum around, we’d love to chat with you. Just contact us at filmworktexas (at) gmail to start a conversation about it. This site is all about creating space for a thriving film community, so with a few guidelines and agreements, we’d love to have you move in and host discussions with like minded filmmakers and talent.
  • How do I post a notice?
First you have to have the Regular Membership paid plan. From the Menu, navigate to the page for the type of notice you need to post (either crew calls or casting calls), and click on the link at the top of the page that says, "Post a Notice." You will be given a prompt on some basic guidelines that you must agree to, then you'll click through to the form. If you bypass the agreement, and go directly to the form, the agreement is still assumed. Once you submit the form, that's it. It should appear immediately on the relevant notice page.
  • How do I respond to a notice?
Each production will handle the process uniquely. Read the notice carefully for submission instructions or reach out directly to the production contact listed.
  • Can I advertise on your site?
This is an ad free space. So, the short answer is "No." You can, however request to be listed on the Resources page where we link to your website and provide contact information. In addition, you may submit an informative blog post, event or other type of relevant content that would be of value to our members. Within that post, you can make mention of your product or service. The content itself, however, must contain valuable, usable information for our membership. Feel free to reach out to us at info@filmworktexas.com for more information or to discuss options for your specific scenario.
  • How do I submit an Event or Workshop?
Thanks for asking! We rely on our members to notify us of any events that would be of interest to other members. Just email us at info@filmworktexas.com with the subject "upcoming event" and provide all the pertinent details. We may reach out to you with clarification or to request additional information, so allow plenty of time prior to your event.
  • How do I get listed on the Resource Page.
It's easy! Just email us at info@filmworktexas.com and start the conversation. We may have additional questions to verify your business product or service in order to keep only relevant resources listed for our members, but we will work with you to determine the best way to represent what you offer that is of benefit to the community. If it benefits our community, we are interested.
